This very sweet, high carat gold antique ring was made in the first quarter of the 19th century, c. 1830s. Claw set with a central bright and lively chrysoberyl. Chrysoberyl is a fascinating stone which appears to glow from within and it is often known as chrysolite. The Greeks called it the Golden Stone which is the original meaning of the word. The chrysoberyl is slightly pear shaped with the sweetest open culet and measures 4 mm x 4 mm. Sitting on either side is a round raspberry pink ruby and a berry hue garnet. There are small bead or bobbles around the setting and two gorgeously detailed flowers. The ring face measures 6.5 mm top to bottom. On a plain shank. A delightful and dainty jewel from the Regency era.
