Dating to the 19th century, this beautiful antique piece is a Victorian intaglio wax seal. Gorgeously carved amethyst depicting a bird in flight holding a letter in its beak. With the words Respondez Vite meaning please reply quickly. The amethyst is foil backed and the foil has started to age. The seal face measures 14 mm x 10 mm. Set in a silver gilt frame.
