A beautifully sweet and sentimental antique piece of jewellery, dating to the turn of the 20th century. This adorable 9ct rose gold brooch has been lovingly designed as a crescent moon and bow. Gorgeously detailed with a central pear shaped garnet and two tiny seed pearl drops suspended to either side. The garnet is a rich and deep red hue and measures 8 mm x 5 mm. There is a small bail attached at the back of the bow, allowing this piece to be worn as a pendant as well as a brooch. The symbolism is very sweet and refers to ‘tying the knot’. A piece like this would have been given as a honeymoon gift, represented by the crescent moon, after a bride married her groom. An endearing piece of Edwardian English jewellery that would make a perfect wedding or anniversary gift. Please note the box shown is for demonstration purposes.
