Dating to the middle of the 18th century, this very pretty piece fits into George II’s reign in the United Kingdom. Beautifully designed as a garnet solitaire on a visually exciting Rococo scroll detailed shank. The garnet is a deep berry hue with a delicious purple undertone. It measures 7.8 mm in diameter. The high carat gold looks pretty with the rich hue of the garnet. Flanked by sweetly scrolled shoulders. Please note there are a few signs of wear as would be expected for a piece of this age, including an old resize mark on the shank, a test area on the shank and one side of the setting has worn slightly to reveal the rough edge along the side of the stone. These do not detract from the overall beauty of the piece in my opinion. A wonderful example of antique English jewellery.
