Dating to the c.1860s – 1880s, this adorable piece fits neatly into the mid Victorian era. Designed as miniature carved bloodstone intaglio wax seal. Gorgeously detailed with a fly or winged insect. Set in a finely engraved 9ct gold mount, it is likely to be the finial of a propelling pencil or similar item. The intaglio face measures 8 mm in diameter.
