A special, early 19th century English ring dating to c.1830s. Fitting neatly between the late Georgian and early Victorian eras. Gorgeously set with rich and glowing graduated emeralds in a traditional five stone design. The emeralds are beautifully saturated. The central stone is clear and measures 5.5 x 4.3 mm. All emeralds are natural and have minor clarity enhancement, one emerald at the end is moderate. Oiling emeralds is a practise that dates back to ancient times and is specifically mentioned in historical texts as early as the 14th century. The origin of the central emerald is confirmed to be Colombia. Ring face measures 8 mm by 18 mm. Flanked by split detail shoulders with sweet leaf decoration. A wonderful example of early English 18ct gold jewellery. Comes with a gem and pearl laboratory certificate, 2024. Please note there is a small nibble to the corner of one of the smaller emeralds and the end emerald’s surface is rubbed.
