Dating to the first half of the 19th century, this antique jewel sits between the Georgian and Victorian eras. The split ring is designed as an ouroboros, a circular snake, detailed with eyes and mouth, shown swallowing its own tail. Decorated with a criss cross pattern. There are areas on the surface which are a little rubbed, due to years of gentle use. Split rings were used in Georgian times to attach fobs to watch chains. They are beautiful jewels that can be used to attach charms to chains or worn as a ring on your finger. This is a lovely example of an antique English jewel that is coming increasingly hard to find. Please note the split ring is open and the box shown is for demonstration purposes.
