This beautifully designed and aesthetic antique jewel has been gorgeously made in high carat gold. Detailed with four snakes and a central cushiony cut aquamarine. This piece has been a real mystery for me, I have not seen a jewel quite like it in over twenty years in the trade. Based on research, I believe it fits most closely into the Arts and Crafts of the early 20th century. The Arts and Crafts was a stylistic movement that focused on nature, simple designs, beautiful materials and honest craftmanship. William Morris (1834 – 1896) was a leading figure for example. This brooch pin has been beautifully and softly textured and each snake’s face decorated with eyes and a mouth. The aquamarine is well saturated and measures 7 mm x 6 mm. With a brooch pin and c shaped fitting to the back.
