This beautiful and colourful antique jewel has been claw set with an array of gemstones. Designed as an openwork lozenge and set with 16 vari shape stones, including emerald, sapphire, spinel, garnet, pearl, cat’s eye chrysoberyl, turquoise and opal. Harlequin, meaning many coloured, jewels were popular during the Victorian era and this lovely example dates to the end of the 19th century. Originally a brooch, this aesthetic piece has been lovingly converted to a pendant with an 18ct gold bail. One of the pearls has been reset with glue.
