This gorgeous novelty jewel has been beautifully designed as a characterful cat. Subtly textured with a florentine surface, claw set with vibrant red paste eyes, swirling tail and applied whiskers. One eye has three eye lashes and the other has four, this looks to be missing but doesn’t detract from the overall aesthetic of the piece in my opinion. An aesthetic piece that can be enjoyed from every angle. Novelty jewels like this were hugely popular during the 1960s and 1970s and many large jewellery houses including Cartier developed lines of animal themed jewellery.
