A beautiful and classically designed antique 18ct gold ring claw set with a central oval opal cabochon and old cut diamond halo. The opal is lively and full of beautiful colour play. Surrounded by 12 x individually set hand cut diamonds, totalling an estimated 0.60 carats. The ring face measures 14 mm x 12 mm. With tapered shoulders and a grooved detail shank. Dates to 1890 fitting nicely into the Victorian era. The ring has light surface wear to the opal top and a couple of tiny nibbles to two diamonds, as would be expected and in keeping with age. This charming piece would make a perfect antique engagement ring.
