An aesthetically designed antique 18ct gold ring that fits neatly into the early Victorian era c.1840-1860s. Set with a central fancy sugarloaf cut paste. Paste jewellery is a special type of flint glass. Its origins date back to the mid 1700s to a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras. Stras worked as a jeweller in the French Court. Paste was backed with foil to add colour and shine and its glowing effect emulated a variety of gemstones. It became hugely important in Georgian and Victorian jewellery. This vibrant and rich green hue paste resembles emerald and the gorgeous facets catch the light beautifully. Framed by tiny rose cut diamonds in a lozenge shape and flanked by fluted shoulders. With a closed back setting. This beautiful and unique ring is a fine example of antique English Victorian jewellery.
Measurements: UK ring size L 1/2 to M or US size 5 7/8 to 6
