This sweet example of Shibayama jewellery dates to the c.1960s to 1980s. Designed with two bugs on an ovoid form and concave ring face. Their head and bodies formed from carved shell set in high relief and legs finely engraved into the silver. The Shibayama technique was originally created by Onoki Senzo, an Edo haberdasher who lived during the 18th century. This gorgeous example measures 20 mm wide by 13 mm at the front and tapers to 4 mm at the bottom of the shank. Please note the other Shibayama ring shown is available and listed separately.
